Our mission is to provide the Australian market with locally grown, grass fed, organically raised, and sustainably bred lamb products that are of exceptional quality.
Our vision is to build a sheep farm that champions organic and sustainable farming practices, and is committed to animal welfare.
Organic and sustainable farming methods
Being able to practice organic farming is why we began Hidden Valley Lamb. Agricultural production that involves using natural and sustainable methods to grow crops and raise animals is of number one importance to us. Toxic chemicals are replate within the food chain. We are doing what we can to promote soil health, conserve resources, and minimize the use of synthetic chemicals. To avoid hte use of chemicals, we rely on preventive measures, such as proper nutrition, sanitation, and natural remedies to keep our sheep healthy. We are continuing to develop these practices and build new options that we hope to share with the wider lamb industry.
Our organic farming not only creates healther meat and wool, but enables us to contribute to developing a community-based network of food systems, promoting the sale of locally-grown produce in local stores and farmer's markets. This helps to support our local Tasmanian economies and reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance food transportation.
Ethical farming
Ethical farming is an approach to agriculture that prioritizes the welfare of animals, the environment, and the people involved in the production and consumption of food. At Hidden Valley Lamb we aim to create a sustainable and regenerative system of production that is in harmony with nature and provides a fair and equitable livelihood for all involved. Our organic animal husbandry emphasizes providing our sheep with a natural and humane living environment that allows them to exhibit their natural behaviors, and minimizes their exposure to stress and suffering. This involves avoiding the use of hormones, antibiotics, and other chemicals that can harm animals and potentially contaminate the food supply.
At Hidden Valley Lamb our goal is to ensure our sheep are comfortable, happy and content at every stage of their lifespan.
Hidden Valley Lamb is fortunate to operate on a small land holding in the North East of Tasmania.
Fencing capital projects
We have recently expanded our fencing and created new pasture for our growing flock. In the near future we will be more fencing projects to allow for expansion over the next 2-3 years, increasing our organic lamb output to the market. Our quality fencing keeps our sheep safe and the wild animals that traverse the beautiful Tasmania country side out in the wild where they are happiest.
Natural water source
Located at the bottom of the spectacular Blue Teir, our flock recieve pure, unadulterated, water from our spring fed dam. Our dam is sheltered by the natural Tasmanian forrest that surrounds us. Our sheep's troughs are auto filled with this pristine water source 24x7.
Green organic pastures
Organic production is central to our business. We do not use any chemical fertalisers on our land. The abundent rainfull in the North East of Tasmania and our stock rotation means that our flock spend their days grazing on green pastures. Operating in a valley, also means that our land is not water logged. We have large trees that offer our flock with shelter and shade when needed. Our wallaby proof fencing means our flock do not sure their pasture with the abundance of wildlife that inhabit the surrounding forrest and enjoy the land to themselves.
